Saunas Show Signs of Reducing Risk of Dementia
Dementia is an elusive disease, with a variety of factors causing dementia and approximately 9 million Americans projected to have dementia by 2030. Thankfully, a recent study of nearly 14,000 subjects shows promising signs of regular sauna usage reducing the risk of dementia.
“The findings of this population-based study, including men and women from Finland, are in line with the hypothesis that sauna bathing provides protection against the development of dementia.” (NCBI, 2020)
We typically share studies that are definitive in their results, such as saunas impact on heart disease (https://becalmsauna.com/studies-stories/saunas-reduce-the-risk-of-heart-disease). The impact of sauna usage on dementia risk still requires further studies to develop a firm conclusion. But with so many people wondering what they can do to reduce their risk of dementia for themselves and their loved ones, we decided to highlight these promising results.
